BDI makes an ideal partner for all types of university research projects by supplying testing services, equipment, and/or training. BDI will “fit in” to just the level required to accomplish the objectives of the research in the most efficient way possible. If its equipment you’re looking for, we can provide the hardware and software along with training, all at a reduced educational discount.Also, BDI had configured a four-channel wireless data acquisition system to be an easy-to-use teaching tool.

This Student Testing Kit system is based on our BDI Wireless Structural Testing System (STS-WiFi) which has been used for testing hundreds of civil structures all over the world. These systems allow a variety of sensors to be used such as BDI Strain Transducers, BDI LVDT’s, and BDI Accelerometers. This system is ideal for either laboratory or field work, and your students will discover how powerful digital response data can be for understanding all types of structural and mechanical behavior!

BDI grew out of two highway bridge research projects conducted at the University of Colorado in the 1980’s, and we have kept our “R&D roots” alive through our constant updating and refinement of both our Structural Testing Systems and our FEA and load rating software.

As budgets tighten, the pressure on engineers to get the most out of their existing structure inventory goes up. Some tools that can often help with this decision are live load testing and structural monitoring.

For 24 years, BDI has been providing critical structural response information to engineers responsible for maintaining lock gates, radial gates, and other water control structures. This information has often been used to make modifications, verify responses, and support operational changes. We are structural engineers who know what type of data needs to be recorded and more importantly, we know how to help translate the field data into an actual decision for the owner.

We’ve conducted testing on over a hundred hydraulic structures around the country and use a methodical and efficient approach to gather the maximum amount of data for the least cost.

Structural Monitoring Services for Hydraulic Structures

BDI offers structural testing and monitoring services for all types of hydraulic structures such as tainter gates, nav-lock gates, and fish conveyance structures. We use a very efficient testing system to record strains, rotations, displacements, cable forces, and many other parameters to gain an understanding of the structure’s overall response. Typical applications include measuring trunnion pin friction on tainter gates, measuring gudgeon forces on miter gates, and tracking the rotation of monolith walls during lock cycling. Vehicle Axle Weight Scales Used for Verifying Permit & Overloaded Vehicles

BDI has integrated a set of specialized portable scales into our STS-WiFi system, allowing us to weigh permit loads axle by axle. Several DOT’s have found it extremely helpful to have both the axle and gross weights verified prior to allowing the specialized loads to cross bridges along the haul route. BDI typically mobilizes either to the edge of a jurisdiction or to the load staging area and provides this service at a very modest cost.

In an effort to continually bring you in-depth and comprehensive information about all of the products and services we offer at Bridge Diagnostics, Inc., we have redeveloped our website to reflect even more information about structural testing, monitoring services and equipment, and everything else we do.

We just launched our new website, BridgeTest.com V3.0. The design is new, and the organization is updated. We now categorize our testing services by structure type. In addition, each product page now contains support document and links, along with related structures types which are good candidates for testing.
